"Hearing amplification OK, audio streaming and App definitely not!"

I have a pair of Edge AI 24 aids on trial. These are my first hearing aids and I decided to purchase a top of the range pair as I wanted to take advantage of the AI features for my hearing but as a hobby musician I also wanted the audio streaming features. As far as hearing is concerned they seem to perform well so far and have amplified the 8K+frequencies without any distortion. However the audio streaming seems very flakey.
The app and the streaming will sometimes disconnect from the aids for no apparent reason (even though they are working for amplifying my hearing) and I have had to resort to turning the phone off and on and for re-pairing.
The streaming works fine when I am in the house but if I move 10 to 20 yards from my house even if there is no noticeable background noise the sound level in each ear fluctuates and cuts off randomly
I have checked this out and found it has nothing to do with WiFi or bluetooth or mobile data settings and it does the same when streaming or playing from a file that is permanently stored on the phone using several different apps. I even tried to check this out on my Wife’s Iphone 16 Pro with IOS 18 but the IOS app couldn’t even find the hearing aids (I had my phone switched off when trying just in case).
Both our phones connect to a wide variety of other audio bluetooth devices successfully.
I don’t know whether this is the app or the aids but I notice that the Android App score has now dropped to 2.4 it was 2.6 when I started my trial!
UPDATE 14/3/2025 After several weeks of trying to work this out for myself I have found that in terms of the pairing issue if I remove almost all my other bluetooth devices (not ideal obviously) and put my phone very close to the aids as soon as I take them out of the charger, they will pair automatically. In terms of the audio media streaming if I keep my phone to within about 10" of the aids the sound doesn't bounce back and for between the left and right aids as much - this requires a jacket or coat or shirt with a top pocket or a neck sling (again far from ideal)

"Absolutely useless"

Absolutely useless. Do not improve my hearing. I've had them for about a month. No help when watching TV. If I cup my ears, I get much improved quality. It makes no difference if I have them in or not.
Worse, my tinnitus has become far more obvious/ noisy, grrrr!
I do not need amplification. I can turn the volume up for that! It's the high notes I need help with

"I have had my hearings aids for just…"

I have had my hearings aids for just over two years now and I am tired of having to take them back to the shop with problems. Sometimes they work and are very good and then for most of the time they fail to work - there is no difference in sound levels between wearing them and not wearing them. Having paid so much for them I am loath to throw them in the dustbin, but that is just what I feel like doing.

My hearing aids sound so tinny! Can't understand anyone clarity is awful and always trying to adjust them.my audiologist very kind and tries to adjust them but still have problems. I'm lost on what to do.thanks

"Starkey n est pas à l ecoute d un client quand défaillance son propre materiel"

J ai des appareils starkey ric genesis depuis un an. La batterie intégrée d un des appareils se décharge très vite. Je dois rendre mes appareils pour que Starkey change la batterie. Cela signifie 10 jours d immobilisation pour changer une batterie. Mon audioprothesiste va me prêter des appareils d une génération précédente car il ne peut changer lui-même la batterie.
Je vais être pénalisée car j ai des accouphenes et les anciens appareils ne sont pas performants pour les accouphenes.Quel mépris starkey a t il vis a vis des clients pour ne pas proposer un échange ou un prêt d appareil équivalent.

"Just Awesome "

I just recently have been fitted with the Starkey Edge AI. I actually cried the first time I wore them! It was amazing how I could hear more clearly and in noisy situations, the technology adjusts and allows me to hear who and what I’m trying to listen to. Amazing!! The phone app allows me to make adjustments for what environment I’m going to be in and do self checks, volume control and so many other things! I cannot say enough… love my hearing aids, thank you Starkey!!

"The Starkey Genesis AI have changed my life"

The Starkey Genesis AI have changed my life. I’ve had them a year now and looking back I can’t believe how difficult and unenjoyable life was with all my previous hearing aids. I use a bi-cros system and the battery life has been brilliant (24 hours plus) which lets some competitors down with 12 hour battery life.

The main thing for me though has been speech in difficult and noisy settings. I can socialise again without worry after 10 years of struggling since I lost hearing in one ear and some in the other ear. I’m not nervous or straining to hear, I turn on edge mode and it’s all sorted. I’ve even found myself hearing better than my friends in certain situations.

The second main area they have changed my life is with music. I used to love music and live music, but it never sounded as good with other hearing aids. I’ve since picked my guitar back up, been to gigs and listen to music on speakers and truly enjoy it all like when I had working ears!

They weren’t cheap but a year in and they were worth every penny.

There are two issues I’ve had - the first being it took a week to get the set up correct. It took a some perseverance and I can easily understand why anyone might give up after a few days- birdsong was so loud it hurt at one point! But I was warned at the outset it might not be right first time and it did get sorted.

The second thing is the streaming - audiobooks and music from my iPhone aren’t great quality and sometimes cut out. However, it’s a minor detail when compared to everything else. I just use over-ear headphones instead most the time.

Overall, there was life before these hearing aids, and then there is life with them. Persevere at the beginning if you struggle and you won’t regret it.

"Intracanaux cic..."

Je possède des intra canaux cic depuis début 2023.
Les appareils sont partis en réparation déjà 3 fois le gauche et 2 fois le droite. (Micro, ampli... et etc...) aujourd'hui c'est les deux qui sont en pannes.... j'ai donc ressorti mes bons vieux Signia, qui eux marche toujours de 2018...
Soit disant starkey géant américain, leader de l'intra canaux, zéro pointé ! Croyez moi, au prix où vous coûtez, vous êtes pas prêt de me revoir.
J'ai même remplacé ma boîte de séchage, croyant que le problème venait de mes oreilles. Rien n'a changé.

"Very disappointed from starkey hearing aids! A waste of money!"

Bought IIC hearing aids in 2013 after several trips to the hearing aid center to make the proper molds, I finally got the better ones, (the process is so annoying, making the molds properly takes a good while) I was so frustated of going back and forth, the adjustments were difficult too, audiologists don’t help much, they are too rude and greedy for money, I really condemn it! It’s awful! Anyway after all the attempts I finally left with a descreet pair of hearing aids. Today with an advanced model the Evolve AI IIC by starkey I don’t hear properly, the speech is not clear, the sound is too compressed, they make me feel so bad, they break easily too. Starkey went too bad, I don’t think I’ll buy their devices anymore, I’m very hopeful on OTC hearing aids since I’m too stressed of dealing with rude audiologists! By the way if I’ll buy a custom hearing aid in the future that would be a different brand. But no more Starkey! I’m too disappointed!
