"They conveniently lose your…"

They conveniently lose your cancellation letter over and over so they can keep billing you. This is even after we sold our house and moved to another state! Three months later, still trying to get my account canceled and STILL liable for payments. Crooks!

"One of the worst customer service and nefarious company not a security company"

If I can give negative stars I will give this company a negative 10. Stay away from their predatory practice of signing up individuals to long contracts when they were purchased over by ADT Security. I sold my house and moved out. I get a new bill from ADT stating that I owe them monthly service charges now that ADT purchased Ackerman customers. I called Ackerman weeks ahead to cancel my service as I sold my house. But Ackerman never got back to me. They said their loyalty (whatever) group will get back to me to proceed with the cancellation. Not only did they not cancel my service they sold me like a w***e to ADT. If you want your security to be taken care of by such nefarious companies as ADT or Ackerman good luck! I'd rather have two Doberman's they are loyal and not a bunch of thieves like these companies. I have contacted the state attorney general's office. If you believe you are a victim of predatory tactics like ADT and Ackerman contact your state attorney general's office of consumer affairs. You can do so online.

"I have been trying to cancel this…"

I have been trying to cancel this service for FOUR YEARS and because we couldn't remember our password they continue to bill us and we have not paid $1232 over the course for service we don't even use!!!! I can see why they sold to ADT now!! I just spend 1 hour and 48 minutes on phone trying to resolve to only get hung up on TWICE!!! These people are crooks and use the convivence of a password to keep charging us. AND I STILL HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CANCEL SERVICE and no further along!! THis is robbery!!!

"Since Ackerman sold to ADT"

Since Ackerman sold to ADT the service has been abysmal. My system went off line 2 weeks prior to the turn over. I was told I could not schedule a tech until ADT took it over on 6/27, called was then told to call back on 6/29. Called and scheduled an appointment for 6/30. Tech was a no show. Called again now told I can't get a tech until 7/7. We have been without a motored system for almost a month. EXTREMELY DISAPOINTED!!!

"Divorced. Left Home. Ackerman still wants money."

The Salesperson let us know it would not be a problem to exit the relationship. After divorcing, it did not make sense for us to keep Ackerman Security. Even after I left the home, they still want me to pay a remainder for a 5yr term I would never have agreed to. I’m guessing I’m not the 1st person to experience this. Beware of long term commitments and fees that are not explained!

"Terrible Phone Service"

Been with this company for about seven years with no problem, but i am so disgusted now that I am cancelling my service. Have smoke, motion, and CO units. Recently several started chirping so I called for a tech, It took a week for the tech to come and i missed a half days work because the times for the tech are either 8-12 or 12-4. The tech came ($100 to show up) and replaced one CO, he only had one in his truck and disconnected the other CO that was chirping. The next day I was leaving the house and attempted to set the alarm, but it would not activate. I have called ACKERMAN 4 times, each time waiting at least 20 minutes to get someone to answer, yesterday I waited 45 minutes with no answer. The "call back" thing is useless. When I did get a person on the line, I was told a tech would return my call. This never happened. No more calls from me. I am cancelling my service today. While waiting for a person to answer the call, a recording offers $25 for a referral. I will be glad to give a referral "stay away from AKERMAN".
