Mr. Rooter Plumbing

"Update on Prior Review"
Update. LOSERS. I’m considering suing them for deceptive trade practices. They did not know what they were talking about when they showed up with their tech and dummy. They attempted to charge me 1100 for leak detection, but agreed on roughly 550 to find the leak. They claimed they knew EXACTLY where the leak was. WRONG. 22,000 quoted which wouldn’t have fixed anything. Mr. Rooter should be shut down. The repair was not where they claimed it was. Not even close. $600 later with a master plumber, repair completed. Do NOT trust Mr. Rooter and their “$64 inspect fee.” They work off flat fee to inure to their own benefit, not yours. Total bait and switch. Believe the reviews.

"Not recommended"
Not recommended. This company has a low fee for an individual not qualified to do anything other than to appear and briefly assess the situation only to call in another to assist. At least that was my experience. They operate on a FLAT FEE basis, not hourly, meaning you are at risk.
Following their assessment about a small leak in a main line (158') long, and charging me around $550.00 for that assessment (notably, with no equipment to actually locate the leak as they had none and completed within one hour), they went back to their trucks (always a bad sign) only to return and show me a $21,500.00 proposal to literally dig up the old line and replace with with a new one. The actual line only costs around $400.00. I simply said no and asked that they leave.
Had I known they only operate on a FLAT FEE basis, I would have never contacted them in the first place. Their hourly rate was between 250-350/hour for the 2 individuals, hardly what the average plumber charges. Of note, master plumbers don't even charge that.
Not recommended. Never recommending. Very offended. $21,833.33 for a new line, literally, when all they had to do was locate the issue and repair it on spot. That, or check end to end - with a new line since they were only able to eyeball it. I have now hired a master plumber and will update once I receive his bill for the total repair - out of fairness to the situation.
Don't fall for the 24/7 - no additional charge. Their FLAT RATE will be excessive IMO.

"We had a completely blocked kitchen…"
We had a completely blocked kitchen sink. Two technicians showed up, convinced us that a Hyfro-scrub was much better than just snaking the blockage - we agreed and was given the estimate of $800.00 plus, but with us not knowing exactly what was involved.
In hindsight though, they were here less than one hour. Even if they make $50.00/hour for labor, what is the other $700.00 for ??? There is no product involved or utilized, just our water and our electricity. Therefore we feel we were ripped off. By the way, we are retired people in our 70's and 80's. For sure, if there is another need for this kind of service we will look elsewhere.

"We needed a toilet and bathroom sink…"
We needed a toilet and bathroom sink install completed. Our plumber was Tim, he was very fast with a response. He prompltly answered all my questions and gave a fair price. He did an excellent job with the installation. He was friendly and very helpful and informative about the services they provide. I will definitely be using Tim as my regular plumber from here on out. Thanks Tim!

"Scam. Break your stuff and make YOU pay."
Had them come to install a water heater from Home Depot. While Truck #10 was at my house working, he broke a water pipe getting the new water heater in. Charged me double the quote for something he broke.
SCUM BAG company. Stay away, or use at your own risk.

"We called to have a dishwasher hooked…"
We called to have a dishwasher hooked up, Home Depot had left the new washer out of the box next to the cabinet, and old one removed. Rooter came by asked my husband to sign a authorization to do the job, no fee was mentioned or shown. After 45 min. the job was done and the bill was $765.00. We were shocked, what a scum bag company, the fee was never disclosed. How can they keep on ripping people off like that.

"I had a most complicated case of…"
I had a most complicated case of previous homeowner connecting 2 90's to my septic from kitchen to bath. Could not snake clearance for drainage. With locators, they were able to determine where the problem was. It meant jack hammering through my flagstone floor and digging over 4 feet deep to find the pipe and removing the 90s and sloping correctly to the septic.
I cannot tell you enough nor recommend enough to use Mr. Rooter. Tyson, Chris, Beverly, you all were amazing. The attention and care taken to so ever professionally and methodically to correct the problem were well above the quality of ANY other company in this area. I appreciated the thorough, detailed clean up. Don't think twice of who to call when you have a plumbing issue!

"The job involved replacing two toilets…"
The job involved replacing two toilets that were removed to install new flooring. We had to use a plumber to meet strata requirements. We also had a slight drip from the handle of my shower knob, into the shower.
Replacing the toilets cost $640 for about 40 minutes work, including testing (flushing)!!
The tech replaced the valve in the shower and it leaked more — long story short, he said I needed a new “diverter”, and the estimate of $800 came in AFTER he’d already cut the old one out. Not sure if that was a scam or not.
The valve replacement charge was never removed, either. Total bill was $1789 for $150 worth of parts and 4 hours labour. That works out to $411 per hour.
I’ve contacted the company to no avail, and have now contacted consumer protection.

"Really helpful plumbing on short notice"
It seems Mr. Rooter has gotten some negative reviews, but they were excellent at fixing my toilet. First, they identified that my broken toilet was in need of replacement, as the insides had rusted and broken down due to hard water, and then they promptly replaced the toilet. The two gentlemen providing the service were very cheerful and helpful.

"I'd give zero stars if i could"
I'd give zero stars if i could. This company preys on people's sense of urgency. Frankly, i think that the commercials are FAKE with the woman posing as the owner to try and gain everyone's trust. DO NOT fall for this. They over-charge and tried to bully me into buying a Halo whole house water system at a total bill of $5,500. I hired someone else to finish the dishwasher install and ended up repairing my floor tiles myself. I waited to post a negative review so that i could calm down. Trust me, hire someone else other than them.
