"Consider Very Carefully Before Purchasing a Solidor Product"

I will now begin to explain the reason for the title of my review.
I have worked in the construction industry for over 36 years, approx 19 of those years were as a Carpenter & Joiner. I am a 'time served' apprentice, having done a 4 year City & Guilds apprenticeship which included the Advanced Craft and Institute of carpenters. During that time I installed/fitted many many door linings/frames and hung the doors within them, so I would like to think I know a little bit about making sure lining/frames were plumb and in square.
So last year when I decided to purchase a Solidor door set I took the decision to install it myself so I could save some costs.
After a while I started to notice that the leading top edge of the door was no longer sitting flush into the frame. I put a level on both sides of the door frame and it was plumb, however when putting the level on the leading edge of the door I found it to be out of plumb. That said to me the door was beginning to warp?
I contacted the Supplier and after making me jump through many hoops, (Solidor procedure, not supplier), Solidor at long last agreed to send an Engineer out to review.
The day the Engineer came it was apparent very early that he was sent out with a clear direction to blame the install. He cited that apparently I hadn't introduced a 2mm bow to the middle leading edge of the door frame during installation.
I failed to see how this had any bearing when a frame has been installed both plumb and square and was still in that position, yet the door was no longer sitting flush in the aperture. Yes it has the potential to pull the door in by 2mm but (i) you can do that adjustment with the multi-lock cams/keep and (ii) that doesn't alter the fact the door is not sitting how it was when first hung. Needless to say Solidor have not offered any further support so I have to hope the door does not get any worse.
I appreciate I have gone on a bit, but if this review does nothing else other than get people to consider very carefully before purchasing a Solidor product then that is a positive in my mind.
Without mentioning names, there are other Manufacturers out there who not only appear to have a better product but also offer a far better customer service. Don't take my word for it, just check Trustpilot to see how Solidor compare with their competitors.

"Not over happy"

Purchased back and front doors last summer, based on family recommendations.
Love the style, the look and the quality, but........
The latch mechanism for both started sticking a few months ago. Thought it may be out of true with the frame, but the mechanism is virtually impossible to lock whether the door is in the frame or not. Takes 2 hands and a huge amount of force to push the handle up and engage the locking bolts. This would be impossible for an older person with reduced strength.
Now to be honest I have just gone back to the supplier / fitter and waiting a visit for their response to the problem. It is not warped, which seems to get a few reviews, but a very stiff (almost impossible) mechanism within 12 months doesn't inspire me. As I said, I love the design, the looks and the quality, just not the locking mechanism.

"Diabolical doors"

Dreadful doors that bow and customer service non existent. Throwing ours out after two years and two doors both bowed badly. Absolute trash avoid at all costs.

"Creak, Creak, Creak!"

Our door just creaks all the time, it is starting to drive us nuts. It appears to be the window trim internally. Also both doors we had fitted have bowed. A second fitter we spoke to, said he always avoided solidor...he was right.

"Looks great, terrible door"

Looks great, but if you want to use it as a door don't bother! It sticks if it's hot, or cold, or mild. It can take 5 minutes (or be completely impossible for my partner) to get in to or out of.
I guess if there was a house fire someone could be in serious trouble.
Spoken to several locksmiths, who have helped temporarily, but as they say they come across numerous and reoccurring problems with Solidor's.

"Update"

Update: After two Solidor emails, one phonecall and two Trustpilot reviews it appears we're finally getting somewhere; time will tell. I've been told that my defective door will be replaced in a few weeks, I really hope so and hope it will last longer than my current one. Thank you Jess & Stephen. Solidor would really need to review their customer care policy and take action to deal with concerns/complaints in a timely manner, their Trustpilot ratings might even improve.

Not happy with this company solidor our back door was fitted a few months ago and it has warped was told by fitter door would be replaced seeing how it had warped
But the manufacturer will not replace the door .
Now see after several reviews this is a big problem
And you still fit the doors knowing they warp.
How about a refund as this will not be the end to solve this problem

"warped door"

We had a brand new Solidor front door fitted in October 2021 and have endured issue after issue with it. The locking mechanism was so stiff and difficult to use that it raised security and fire escape issues. The wind came through the side meaning it has cost us a lot of money in extra heating costs and the door was Bowed in the frame. So far the fitting company who have been very helpful have been out 4 times to "address" these issues. On one of their visits they ran a long spirit level on the edge of the door and measured a 3mm bow in this NEW front door and reported their find back to Solidor. Their answer was that this Bow is within Industry standards and can be taken up within the door locking mechanism. Bearing in mind this door is just over 3 months old it does not fill me with confidence once the summer sun and future wind and rain has beaten onto it. So if you want to pay a premium price for a warped front door I would recommend Solidor.

Had an issue with a hinge on our Solidor door. I had a few false starts in contacting the right person, but when I finally contacted Grace, she was happy to arrange a replacement which arrived the next day. Great Customer Service

Excellent customer service.
I purchased a Naples door from the Italia collection in 2019 and thus far have been very happy with my door. I contacted Solidor this year because I noticed a small plastic bit of trim was missing at the base of the door. They couldn’t have been more helpful and the part arrived free of charge within a few days. On reflection, I think it more likely the fitter missed this part during the installation rather than it being a fault with the door. All in all very impressed.
