"Well where do I start"

Well where do I start? first of all it was 6 weeks from ordering the door to having it fitted, however as it transpired without telling me they actually downed tools for 3 weeks of that time, then to add insult to injury on collection of the door the buffoons managed to smash the centre window section,

So currently the door is fitted but with a white plastic blanc to fill the whole, however not to worry as they promised to have the replacement by Monday, and that they did, but guess what? the buffoonery only escalates! the window they supplied is the wrong size!

The independent fitter Tom was a really nice professional guy and fitted the door perfectly and albeit the damaged section it looks great, he is somewhat embarrassed about the whole situation and cant apologise enough for their poor service.

Your probably reading this asking yourself, surely the compensated you? answer is nope nothing at all!

Apparently the correct size replacement window section will be here Friday....however I'm not holding my breath!

"Excellent customer care"

I contacted Solidor approx 4-5years after my front door was fitted. As my front door is south facing, the heat has caused the beading known as a cassette to crack in the corner. This had the knock on effect of cracking the paint, showing the white material below.
Customer services offered a few solutions including replacement of the entire cassette but as this is minimal I chose to accept a free pot of touch up paint.
Always quick to return emails and the paint arrived in a day.
Brilliant … service and still really pleased about the door quality

"New Front Door."

We had our front door fitted by a local Solidor fitter, very please with how this was installed and the quality of the product. Our hallway is much warmer with no drafts and the door looks great, many neighbors have also commented how nice it looks. Nigel - Surrey

Ordered this for a new back door.

Had a few issues, so an engineer was sent and he came and rectified all my concerns and now have a properly functioning door.

It appears to me that there may be some quality control issues and hopefully they will be sorted soon!

"Badly made and tacky shiny plastic 'woodgrain' finish - avoid!"

Extremely disappointed with the Solidor we recently received. A horrible cheap-looking shiny plastic finish to the door with a tacky 'woodgrain' effect that doesn't even match the relatively smart finish of the frame. The trim on the glass panel is also plastic that doesn't fit properly. Timber Composite Doors have passed this fault on to Solidor so let's see what they say.
Don't make the same mistake we did of thinking that a high price is a guarantee of quality!

"I would never buy this product again"

I would never buy this product again. It is not well made and the 10-year guarantee is worthless. My door developed cracks at the bottom front facade and the glue that was used to secure the window surroundings has leaked out in several places. The surveyor who visited told me these issues were down to manufacturing defects, but Solidor has said it will not honour its 10-year guarantee. The main reason I spent above the odds for the door was I was reassured by the "10-year guarantee" that I would have a quality product. What a joke. I have had to have the lock adjusted several times, the key surround has not worn well and look terrible after 4 years, and the plastic ends of the door sill fell out soon after it was installed and will not stay in place.

Advised installers 2 weeks later that door was bowed , and out of square in frame.

Installer finally came out early part of this year after numerous calls/emails from me .

Told by installer will send photos to solidor as nothing he can do

Reply from solidoor in june 21 door is within tolerance!!!!

Gone back to suppler (headway windows) and told them i want a service visit from solidor .again
This was june this year

Guess what , no response from installer or solidor for near 3 months!!!

I have even contacted solidor direct regarding a service visit
And no response , other than .. we will look into it and get back to you,……

I have wasted too much time back and fourth to your shambles of a company

So coming up to a year since first reported to installer and solidor, still no further foreward

Advised on a few issues that would need addressing by installer.. adgusted door to make opening and closing easier, door is now draught as hell at top and bottom .. called owen at technical asking for report information..
Told cant give that out im afraid ..
call your installer!!!

Guess what , 3 emails to headway windows . No reply ,
No help from solidoor ..
will try calling installer one more time tommorow


My advise , dont buy a solidoor , £2900 out of pocket , no back up from solidor whatsoever in my opinion .

Do i need to go down the legal route?

Why should we have a door installed , that is either too tight too open and close .

Or fine to open and close but draughty?

These doors bow at the top and bottom , then dont hit the seal

10 year guarentee?

Guarentee for what ?

Owen in Tech Support was really helpful. I wanted my door to lock tight when leaving the house without using a key. Owen sent me free spare parts and then provided support afterwards when I rang to check that I had fitted the parts correctly.

"Expected to last longer - rot"

Expected to last longer. All the 5 star ratings need to wait a couple of years. I've had my Solidor for 4 years. Wanted a colour change so I thought about painting it and did some research. However on examining the door it had developed several cracks on the face and minor delamination at bottom edge. I removed the door from the frame. The bottom strip almost fell off revealing a rotten and soaking centre core. I probed with a screwdriver how deep the rot was. The whole width of the bottom of the door was rotten to a height of 8 inches. This is not an installation issue, in my opinion it's water ingress due to the cracks that develop in the plastic face of the door perhaps due to the expansion and contraction of plastic being different from the timber it's bonded to. If Solidor get the plastic panel cracking issue sorted they may be decent doors. For now I've put the door back it and will replace in the near future. Yes I did paint it and it looks better than ever. I have all the photographs of the rot etc.

Had a Solidor fitted to the back of the house but it let both light and wind passed the seals defeating the object of double glazing. I couldn't fault the installers as their work was spot on and the fault lay with the door being badly bowed. Soldier's response was it was bowed within tolerance and the door fitters should have fitted the frame with a bow in it to match the bent door. The fitters came back and degraded their work to match the bent door but i think the product is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
