"NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER"

I bought a composite Solider about 8 years ago, but a company like Solider professes that their "original door still stand the test of today" is obviously nonsense.

I spent a lot of money on this door with a 10 year guarantee thinking I am buying the best.

Customer service department weren't really a help. They told me take it up with the installer, but he retired 5 years ago. So they said claim under the installers insurance. Just got the report back today from the insurance surveyor and they said "that on inspection it was clear that the composite door leaf has bowed, the centre is latching but the top and bottom are bowed out. Therefore, when the locks are engaged, they are rubbing the keeps and clearly leaving a gap between the door leaf and the gasket.
They also confirmed that, "defect is not with the door frame but the door itself".

The obvious problem is that Solidor door bows and it seems to have an inherent defect in the fact that their doors bow with time.

The problem I have is that the installer, who is retired, does not keep receipts/invoices for more that 6 years.
The invoice I have from the installer shows supply and fit but not the purchase of the Solidor. Customer service is insisting that they need to see original proof of purchase- which I don't have.

Stuart in particular helped me ascertain what the problem was and managed to find the original order and the hardware used from over five years ago as my builder and fitter had ceased trading.
When the parts were removed and replaced I was pleased to see the internal build quality of the Solidor.
Solidor honoured their ten year warranty and I found the customer service I have received to be exemplary.

"Warped door"

Spent a fortune on a solidor. Noticed that the handle started to stick. Finally got the installers round to have a look and they have told me it has warped. They are going to contact Solidor but say it may fall within their tolerance...
I can't believe it, absolutely fuming I've spent so much money on it

Threshold seal had become damaged. Rang Solidor who requested a photo to clarify problem - received set of new seals the next day. Brilliant service and door is back to its best.

This company helped me out 8 years after purchase. The frame gasket had been removed by tenants which made the door drafty and made in rattle. Grace took my call in Enquiries and gave me 1st class assistance sending through a replacement within the week. Thanks Solidor!

"I've had a door ordered through a…"

I've had a door ordered through a supplier timbercompositedoors and fitted. It is a luxury door looking composite door with a side panel window complete in frame.

Now my issue arises at opening and shutting the door itself. It appears that it has not been spaced properly along the edges and always catches the edge on closing requiring slamming to shut the door which is an issue with manufacturer. With it being brand new at this price point it is completely unreasonable to have issues opening and closing.

I have taken a look at the hinges behind the covers and it appears to be right at the edge of adjustment so it can't be readjusted without new holes.

I'm having trouble getting any customer support, its appalling to have to take social media approach to dealing with this issue.

Update: Solidor customer support had gotten back in touch over the week before, and I've had a solidor fitter come around and adjust the fitting of the door inside the frame. It appears to have mended the issue. Friendly fellow. Thanks.

"Waiting over 8wks for my second …"

Waiting over 8wks for my second locking mechanism through a less than perfect installer. The door hasn't been in place for 12 months, the lock was on an urgent delivery! This is poor on every level.

If you notice Solidor asked for more information, which I gave straight away. I can tell you that I have still not had a response. This proves my point.

"I paid £1800. It leaks often. Unacceptable."

I paid £1800 for a new Solidor front door and surround. Designed my own door and spared no expense. A few weeks later it was expertly fitted, it rained heavier than usual and leaked in through the letter plate. The fitters came back and removed the letter plate which was fitted very poorly which was very disappointing. One bead of sealant that only covered 60% of the width of the letter plate, put on in seconds.

Jan 22 Update: Solidor has since been in touch and checked whether the problem has been rectified offering a personal contact if I'm not satisfied with the result. Customer service had been great in that sense and I'm grateful for the support. I do question why the door/letter plate was produced so poorly. the reason I chose Solidor was quality, I would be weary if you're thinking you want the very highest quality.
