"I love my door"

I love my door. It looks great and is 'solid' which is exactly what I asked for. Great job.

"Absolute "p" poor company...."

Absolute "p" poor company....certainly not in any stretch Interested in customers..
Purely there to service their trade base. Any problems they refer you back & forth.

Best advice I can give.... steer clear!

Use a company that actually cares - these definitely don't!

"Used the on line door builder - never got back to me"

Used the on line door builder to create our front door, sent it off and was told that a local installer will contact us - six weeks later still have not heard.

"Top of the range product plagued by problems."

Worth noting that on the below a Solidor engineer arrived today to fit our 3rd replacement door only to find Solidor had sent the wrong sized door, FOR THE SECOND TIME!!!! The below email was sent to Solidor on the 24th of February. Still no answer from Steven. Bunch of amateurs who offer zero customer service.

Good afternoon Steven.

I hope this email finds you well.

I am writing to you as I understand you deal with complaints.

In August of last year we invested heavily in a Solidor Door. After quite a bit of research we ordered the door through a local fitter. The fitter at the time said that we must be mad paying over £2000 for a door. We disagreed as we thought the product was aesthetically the best out there and as far as a composite was concerned, in the top 3 of its class.

The first door developed a fault two days after it was fitted. There was bubbling all over the door where the gluing process hadn’t been done properly. Someone from Solidor, Cameron I think it was, came along with our fitter and the new slab. Cameron mentioned this was the first door he had seen with this problem and would look into how this might of happened at the point of manufacture

Two months later in October the new door developed a new fault. The lock jammed our door shut which was proceeded by the firing latches at the top not retracting enough thus meaning the door didn’t shut unless you held the lock back whilst closing. Our fitter attended moving the door on the hinges to as far as he could which didn’t rectify the problem. Again someone from Solidor had to attend and it was discussed that the door had been made too big for the aperture. As I understand it the door was somehow fixed however I am not sure how.

I wrote a fairly lengthy email to Solidor expressing my disappointment in the product and my despair with the amount of time I was having to spend on this particular matter conversing with Solidor and the fitters. I asked for some form of compensation for the inconvenience to which I was told by a lady called Lucy that Solidor will remake and replace products under warranty and as long as you can honour your guarantee that you will not be offering any compensation. Also mentioning that your liability extends to the product and its supply to the trade customer. So in earnest my time spent on this is worth nothing and neither is my customer satisfaction. Lacking any gesture of good will and only furthering my disappointment in Solidor I decided not to pursue the matter further as I have wasted enough time on it.

The above is worth noting when the reason I write today is to inform you of a further problem with my VERY expensive door.

Today on leaving the house my wife discovered that the door is bubbling as per the attached picture. More pictures to follow once my wife returns home after rushing out the door this morning. To say that I am upset is an understatement.

I have already spoken with Lucy who unfortunately got the thick end of my temper. I have already apologised to Lucy however do extend my apology again. I have since called my fitter to follow your chain of command in raising this problem with the support team.

Steven, put yourself in my shoes. I am firm believer in getting what you pay for. As you can see I work for Savills and we pride ourselves in quality and high levels of customer service. I could have opted to buy a cheaper door and by all accounts according to the fitter not have had any of these problems as he has been fitting composite doors for 15 years and has never had issues of this nature. But as I tell all of my clients you get what you pay for and buy cheap buy twice. Time is money and having to write yet a further email and spend yet more time speaking with the fitter I am afraid is unacceptable.

I will be pursuing compensation as a first port of call with yourselves. Should you not be forthcoming then through the retail ombudsman however would hope not to have to go down that route as we are all adults and believe we can work things out directly.

I look forward to your reply.

"I can't fault our new Solidor"

I can't fault our new Solidor, it really has made the front our of house look very special. I also liked the website where you could "build" your own door and swap features, coluors etc to see what suited us.

"I love this door but it bows when the weather gets warm."

I love this door. I love how solid it is I love all the compliments we get about the look of the house and how amazing the door is.
We spent a long time looking to buy this door and waiting for our house renovation to be ready for our new door.
We waited 2 years and then finally got to order it. Installation was perfect, quick and smooth. No problems at all.
However we had it installed in December 2015 but the slab had to be replaced the following summer as the door bowed considerably in the warmer weather pulling the frame out of shape and putting pressure on the lock mechanism which also caused the key to snap in the door one day-
(As I returned home with bags of shopping locked outside my house) We also had to always force the door shut.
After replacement it was fine again.
Except now we have had a couple of days of warmish weather the new slab has done exactly same thing.
Completely bowed and having to force door shut again to engage the lock.
So disappointed as these are supposed to be solid doors with amazing features, but the wood aspect of the door is just not up to scratch.
I love this door but know we are going to have to get rid of it and start the search for a new better door. Sad to say!
Very diasappointed.

"Excellent Quality"

We had a Solidor installed by a great local Company BWM LTD Pontypridd South Wales excellent service from start to finish.
The Solidor appealed to us because of its high security features.
We upgraded from a upvc door and since having the Solidor installed we have noticed how much warmer it is now we have a Solidor and much quieter.
We went for the Tenby style door in Schwarzbraun Black it looks fantastic.
I am recommending Solidor to everyone 5 Stars for sure.

"Quality"

As an installer of double glazing I come across many different products, I have been using Solidor doors for around 7 years now and wouldn't even consider using others as the quality of the doors are first class , I've changed 2 doors on my own house to Solidor doors as well

"Solidor Absolute rubbish"

Bought a solidor door through another dealer as wont deal directly with home owners or fitters. Orderd a swanzbruan door I fitted it for my customer. 6 months later hinges failed door knocking phoned solidoor got new hinges and I replaced them for my customer. Went back 5 times to this door and found it is to heavy it needs 4 hinges instead of std 3. Called solidoor engerneer came out a full 12 months after installation. Engerneer couldn't be bothered so told me and my customer frame is a different colour to door slab customer now wants new porch door and 2 frames solidoor admitted it was there fault and replaced whole porch no handles glass. The customer expects me to fit the porch and I have said for a days money as this is a new contract as I fitted the door 12 months prior and customer was well happy until big mouth engerneer from solidoor opened his big mouth about a wrong colour match that myself the fitter and my customer didn't notice. Solidor will not pay me the installer a days labour as they say they have rectified problem for me.buy replacing porch but Me the fitter is now left holding the problem and customer is taking me to court because I won't refit the new porch for free. 12 months after I finished the job. solidor cocked up and has admitted to it. Customer wants all his money back for all the windows and porch because solidoor has caused a major issue. Me the fitter carnt take them to court because I didn't buy from them directly. They won't pay a days labour to me fitter to refit. They say I have to fit or pay to get if fitted. And it's Solidoors fault. Plz look in to this more my customer ref is Darren chambers. Spoke to Steve, Cameron, and pier in technical. Chocolate teapot come to mind. People pls don't buy from solidor. Their doors belly, split, hinges are rubbish and bad customer care and as a fitter I have proof with above statements

"Bowed door"

Terrible customer service, my door bowed. They replaced but only the sent out a door slab. A lot of work involved in transferring the ironmongery, glass, drip, hinges etc. No compensation for all the extra work needed to be carried out.
