"Denial of the claim."

I have today (June 14, 2022) received your denial of my claim (dated May 16, 2022), which involves losses for cancellation of a planned vacation rental. You indicated that you sent the denial earlier. However, you seem to be in error, as I have not received an email from you dated 5/16/22.

The reason that I was unable to travel, which necessitated filing a claim for my losses, was because I contracted Covid within 10 days of travel, and underwent treatment, including monoclonal antibody treatment, and emergency room (ER) procedures. ER treatment was for severe Covid symptoms including breathing difficulty, heart irregularity, and anomalous swellings in my legs. I provided all the medical documentation of my condition that your company's representatives requested. My physician indicated clearly that I was unfit for travel. You have all the necessary documentation (as indicated on your website, and as indicated by the Red Sky Travel Insurance representatives that I spoke to), although I can provide even more, and even more specific, medical details if they are required. Your company's representatives stated previously that further documentation would be unnecessary.

From information presented on your company's website (copied below, in red), it is clear that I met all your company's requirements for receiving compensation for a cancelled trip. I documented my condition to the extent required by your company's guidelines.

From trippreserver website under covid
and redskyinsurance website

If you need to cancel a trip due to a positive COVID-19 test result:
You must submit the following with your filed claim
An Attending Physician's Statement (APS) that includes the date of the first onset of symptoms, the date of the positive COVID-19 test, and a physician’s statement certifying the symptoms or restrictions that prevent you from traveling on the date of departure; we encourage you to immediately see a physician upon onset of symptoms to obtain the APS in a timely fashion; OR
In lieu of an APS, and in accordance with current CDC guidelines*, we will accept a positive test result administered or video monitored by an approved third party lab or physician’s office (at home collection will not be accepted) if the positive test occurs within 10 days* prior to trip departure and is collected and dated within this 10 day period
If a positive test occurs more than 10 days* prior to departure, we will require an APS within the 10 day period prior to the scheduled departure date certifying that the sickness is so disabling as to prevent travel on the date of departure.

From today's curt email, my sense is that no amount of documentation will be sufficient. As there is no explanation as to why you denied my claim, I can only conclude that is how your business operates- by scamming customers who think they are purchasing legitimate trip insurance. I can think of no other reason for your denial given the facts that have been presented to you. Perhaps you can provide an actual explanation for your denial of benefits?

Please reach me to discuss this matter further by Wednesday, June 15. If I do not hear from you, I will be referring this case to the Better Business Bureau, and reporting it as a scam to the Ohio Department of Insurance.

"Still waiting for my claim payment 3…"

Still waiting for my claim payment 3 months later. Called to inquire about it and was told it had been approved nearly 2 weeks ago. Never received notification it had been approved so requested a check. Today I received an email that it’s too late to request electronic payment since it’s been 20 days, but since I requested a check last week, I’m not sure why that was sent. Hopefully the check is on its way. Very difficult/timely process.

"I purchased ski pass insurance in 2021…"

I purchased ski pass insurance in 2021 for my children. When one of my children was unable to use the ski pass for medical reasons they denied my claim. I was forced to sue them and it has cost them more in legal bills than my claim was worth. Hopefully others will sue them when they try to deny valid claims too. This way they will stop their unethical business practices.

"Horrible Performance Settling Claim"

Horrible performance with settling a legitimate claim. We have a policy for the 21/22 ski season to protect our Ikon Pass through Red Sky (Arch Insurance). My wife tore her ACL while skiing in February with surgery in mid-March. We properly filed the claim with details of all medical bills, credit card statements, verification we paid for our Ikon Pass and a note from the doctor. Red Sky has now ghosted us with no response for 22 days - and appears to be refusing to pay the claim although it has not yet specifically stated as such.

Never do business with Red Sky and this has nothing to do with COVID issues - it is how they operate. Why Arch Insurance allows Red Sky to represent them, is absolutely astounding.

"Look everyone I spoke to on the phone was great"

Look everyone I spoke to on the phone was nice and did their best. But it was a bit absurd. 1. the process took forever. 2. I would not hear back for weeks and weeks and have no clue what was up and then when I did hear back the first time they said I needed more forms... which I uploaded to the website as instructed... weeks and weeks later once again you guys requested the same forms and I said I uploaded them and double checked and in fact had uploaded weeks and weeks before. Eventually it worked out and I get COVID was an issue. But I shattered my wrist, provided surgeon's note, credit card recipet, ikon receipt... and it was still an ordeal when all I wanted to really do was credit last year's pass to this year's which I bought. In the end, however, I got the refund I definetly deserved and I appreciate that.

"WOULD NOT RECOMMEND"

I would not be able to leave a review and remain civil, so just let me say when you are booking a venue and purchase travel insurance, MAKE SURE the venue DOES NOT use Red Sky Insurance! You might eventually get your money back, but you will have many hurdles and waste lots of time.

"Would not recommend Red Sky"

While our claim was ultimately paid, the process was painful. It took at least a month between each “question” that Red Sky asked. During their review of requested documents, they neglected to completely review submitted documents and repeated requests for documents that were clearly previously submitted. This added additional months to their review. The process took over 5 months. Even when response to their request was submitted within minutes of receipt it took an additional month for a response. There was never an acknowledgment that the delay was their mistake. We would not recommend this company.

"We got our refund"

We got our refund, but it took months. They kept blaming COVID.
