"We have used RedSky Insurance for years…"

We have used RedSky Insurance for years but never
had to file a claim until now. It took a little longer than we expected, perhaps due to Covid, but the claim was handled very professionally and we plan to use them again.

"Not a fan of Red Sky"

I was not going to publish this information, but because Red Sky has asked me to provide a review, I will. I had the worst experience with Red Sky. I travel quite a bit and often take out travel insurance. Never have I had such difficulty with retrieving the cost of a trip (when it was proven that it was no fault of my own) as this. I provided all necessary documentation to tell why my trip should be refunded (my mountain cabin was inaccessible due to a winter storm and the road was closed). I then called three times with very vague information provided about when my claim would be processed. It took about 6 weeks to receive word that my claim was denied. The justification for this was, and I quote, "Generally, travel insurance does not insure losses under every circumstances and only insures the perils listed in the policy, subject to the terms, conditions, restrictions and exclusions. While we certainly understand your disappointment at the partial denial of this claim, please understand that we must consider each claim and the applicable facts under the terms and conditions of the policy purchased. In closing, it is our position that the benefits issued were calculated correctly. If you have any additional information that you feel would affect our determination, please email it to the following address for review: appeals @***********".

Upon receipt of this "reason" I quickly did provide an appeal to the company requesting actual policy provisions that would justify a declination of my claim. None came. After a couple of more weeks with no policy justification provided, the company did reimburse the remainder of my claim, up to the amount of the policy limit, which I was okay with.

While I did receive the majority of my money back, I feel that one should not have to haggle and demand a policy "reason" for being declined. They clearly had no justification for declining my claim and I feel as though they were hoping I would not question their original decision. This is a terrible way to practice business, in my opinion. People trust them for protection against unforeseen events that are out of their control. I feel that Red Sky (at least in my case) did not honor that trust. For this reason, I would not choose to use them in the future for my travel needs.

"Red Sky was great!"

My family had a beach vacation planned for July 2020. We had booked two condos but just a few days before we were to leave my father got Covid and had to be hospitalized so one group could not go. I contacted the place we were staying and cancelled one condo. When I contacted Red Sky, they were very nice and easy to work with. I submitted the paperwork and after a short while I got my refund for the trip! When we take our next trip I will definitely use Red Sky again.

"Ski Insurance"

Ski Insurance - I thought the claim would have been easier to process considering my daughter broke her elbow. Getting the claim started was simple, however, the requests for information was a pain. First request was proof of payment for the insurance. Hello, why wouldn't Redsky have proof of payment on record. Next request was a copy of the initial consultation for the doctor/surgeon. Additionally, we needed to provide a signed attestation from the doctor. The whole claim took approximately 2 months which I felt was way too long.

Red Sky were very responsive. They communicated throughout the entire review process. We had been delayed because of weather on our trip. They covered the expenses as we had expected. The customer service was great.
