"We filed a claim"

We filed a claim, and found the electronic process was easy to follow and efficient. The electronic payout option is also really convenient. We will definitely buy trip insurance again from Red Sky.
One small item that should be addressed: our claim was in the status "Closed. Decision made" for a couple days before we were informed of what the decision was. I found that confusing, so I called the 800 number and was told the claim was in final review by a manager. So I'm wondering why the website would indicate that the claim was closed and decision made if it was still in final review.

Red Sky was very helpful during the claims process. We received emails alerting us to the different phases the claim was in. Once they received the required documentation from me to do a final review, the process took about 14 days.

"Excellent!!"

Excellent!!

I purchased this travel insurance for my family beach trip and had to cancel three days before check-in date due to my son having Covid. Filed my claim, sent in the requested paperwork, and was approved and repaid within two weeks! Cannot say enough good things about this compay!

"Don't waste your money on Red Sky Travel Insurance!"

On 7-28-21, I prepaid($451.41), for a trip for my family & I for a 2 night stay(8-11-21 & 8-12-21), at a Vacasa resort. Paid an additional fee to purchase trip protection insurance through Red Sky Insurance. On 8-11, en route to our destination in a rental SUV, our luggage fell off top of vehicle onto I-485, scattering our luggage & the contents, onto the busy highway. We pulled over to side, & I called 911 for assistance. The dispatcher connected me to the highway patrol, & someone was sent out to assist us. They had to shut the lanes down, stop all of the flowing traffic, & clear the highway. No one was physically injured, but most of luggage & inside items were destroyed. We had to turn around & go back home to repack. Of course, we were all upset & stressed out. By this time it was late in the evening, & the trip was a 4 hour drive. I called the resort & notified them about our situation, & requested to come a day later(8/12), & stay 8-12 & 8-13, instead of, 8-11 & 8-12, so I didn't loose money for that 1 night. Was told by Vacasa rep, they was nothing available on the 13th, but since I had purchased travel insurance, I could file a claim for that night of the 11th. We checked into the resort on 8-12, around 5pm, & again, I inquired about any possible vacancies at any of their locations, so we could stay 2 nights as planned, & not loose money for that 1 night(11th). Again, I was told they had no vacancies anywhere, & I since I had purchased trip protection, I could file a claim for reimbursement of that 1 night(11th). We checked out of the Vacasa resort on the 13th, & since we had driven 4 hours, & planned a 2 night stay, we checked into a hotel($343.24 for 1 night)! Received a survey from Vacasa after our stay , & when completing the survey, I mentioned about the incident en route to resort that caused us to miss 1 night stay, & loose that money, & I received a response from PS, Vacasa reputation management team), instructing me to file a claim with Red Sky to be reimbursed for that night. On 8-18, I filed a claim, & sent in documents, receipts, etc. On 8-20, I spoke to a Red Sky administrative rep, & explained the entire incident to her. I informed her that since no one was physically injured, a report was not completed, but I told her I could get a copy of my mobile phone records, showing the 911 call. She said I would receive a decision when the adjuster is finished. On 8-24, I received a denial from Red Sky.On 8-24, I again sent in the requested information, receipts, & also forwarded the email from Vacasa management team instructing me to file a claim with Red Sky for reimbursement of that 1 night(8-11), since I had purchased trip protection. On 8-30, I received an email from Red Sky with a denial, again. On 8-30, I called the no for Vacasa corporate, & spoke to a supervisor(K), & was told, she would see if she can work anything out, & she would call me back tomorrow. It's 9-5, & I have not heard a word from anyone. These companies go out of their way to do huge advertising to attract consumers, As long as everything goes well, it's all good, but when the consumer has a problem, the companies come up with pages & pages of fine print excuses, & in most cases, the consumer looses. Literally, I had a loss of around $200+, it's like I just threw it down the drain! Unbelievable & an injustice!

"File a Complaint with Local State Insurance Board"

Red Sky Travel Insurance who's underwritten by Arch Insurance Company is a scam (in my opinion). I am in South Carolina and have filed a complaint with the South Carolina Division of Insurance and I recommend you do the same in your state as well as contact your state representative.

We purchased travel insurance for a family reunion planned at Litchfield By the Sea in Pawleys Island, SC in Sept. We purchased the insurance because we were unsure what 1.) hurricane season and 2.) COVID. The majority of the people in our family who'd be traveling to SC were elderly and as you can imagine, they decided to cancel travel due to the resurgence of COVID (delta). I reached out to Red Sky Travel Insurance / Arch Insurance Company to file a claim that was quickly denied.

Reading through the rest of the reviews confirm that Red Sky Travel Insurance is likely scamming (in my opinion) consumers and in order for us consumers to stop being taken advantage of you need to #1 stop buying insurance from them, #2 contact the companies who recommend them and urge them to stop selling their product, #3 file complaints with your local state insurance boards and #4 contact your local congressmen to take action against scammy insurance offerings such as the travel insurance offered by Red Sky.

After reviewing others comments, it's now not about the money, but about the cause. We as consumers need to stick together and hold insurance companies like this accountable.

Regardless of your rebuttal, your service is misleading and consumers have the right to know about your practices.

"Do not purchase this insurance"

Do not purchase this insurance! I gave one star as I had to put something. No star would be more appropriate. Further, I have tried to resolve the issue with RedSky customer service. I find them to be rude, unaccomodating, and eager to interupt.

Below are the facts involving the denial of our claim.

May 2, 2021 – May 8, 2021: Our daughter was signed up for an Appalachian State University Field Hockey Camp for the week of July 7, 2021. Our daughter was fully healthy with no injury or “pre-existing condition.” This is evidenced by a physician’s statement provided to RedSky.

May 9, 2021-May 15,2021: We decided we would turn the camp into a vacation to be with our daughter and began researching cabin rentals. Our daughter was fully healthy with no injury or “pre-existing condition.”

May 17, 2021: Our daughter went to the doctor to check her knee due to some pain. At the time, we were under the impression from doctors that she could still travel and participate in the field hockey camp. No diagnosis of an ACL tear was received at this time.

May 18, 2021: Since we were given the impression that she could still travel and attend the camp, we rented the cabin and purchased RedSky insurance through Carolina Cabin Rental. We were also concerned the cabin we picked out the week of May 9-15 would be booked before we could rent it.

May 19, 2021: We visited the doctor again due to more pain, who then advised that we get an MRI on May 20, 2021. Note: This is after we purchased the rental and RedSky insurance on May 18th. At this time we were still under the impression that if anything was wrong, it was minor and that she would still be able to participate in the field hockey camp. Again, at this time, no “pre-existing condition” exist as we did not know the outcome of the MRI nor were we advised against traveling.

May 20, 2021: Our daughter had an MRI.

May 21, 2021: We received the results of the MRI. It was at this point that we learned of the ACL tear and it was at this point that we were advised against travelling and participating in any sports.

May 25, 2021: Our daughter had ACL removal and replacement surgery.

RedSky is denying our claim due to a "pre-existing condtion" and stating that we knew about the condition prior to renting. Had we known that our daughter could no longer travel or that she even had an ACL tear on May 17th, we would not have booked the trip. Further, the facts above does not meet their definition of "pre-existing condtion."

"Red Sky Travel Insurance worthless?"

My claim was denied by Red Sky. I purchased the insurance on 1/21/21 and diagnosed with an illness on
4/17. I was informed by my doctor on 6/10/21 that I must return for my treatment 6/17 and 6/18/21. I filed a claim for the two days that I missed. Red Sky stated that since I did not become ill during my vacation that it would not be covered . I find this unacceptable. Red Sky would only cover part of the vacation if I become Ill during my stay. I thought after purchasing the policy that I would be covered from the date of purchase until after my vacation. Buyer beware!

"Incase of bad weather, don't rely on this insurance!"

We purchased this insurance because of the weather in the Gulf is always changing and wanted to make sure our family vacation went smoothly. On our first night staying at a beach house in Galveston there was a horrible storm which ripped siding off the home blew down an enclosed fence and sent heavy debris flying. A large sign flew straight into the front of my husbands truck going into the bumper and grill then breaking off leaving a piece of wood lodged into the truck. We sent in pictures and the proof they needed to show it was a weather related incident. I wasn't very worried because we had the travel insurance that COVERS personal property damaged up to $500.00 which is what we thought it would be to fix. But after not hearing from them for 3 weeks I called and Red Sky Insurance has decided that our truck isn't our personal property and refuses to pay. They said they'd cover my cell phone if it was damaged or a rental car if it was damaged, but not the truck we just bought only a few months ago. I will never buy their insurance again. It's a scam. Their policy language has loop hole after loop hole. I have found via facebook and other reviews that this company has SCAMMED hundreds of people out of thousands of dollars. They have over 115 complaints against them with the BBB and have ruined countless vacations. AGAIN, DO NOT BUY RED SKY TRAVEL INSURANCE.
