"Aggressive Selling"

Avoid this company at all costs. Me and my Partner had a quote for a new door and windows to help keep the heat in over the winter due to having a new baby. After a 4 hour meeting we decided to get a quote from a different company as the price seemed high however the salesman told us that the price being offered was a "special offer" that was only valid that day and the deposit completely refundable if cancelled within a 7 day period. He advised us to sign the contract as we could still cancel within 7 days if we found a better quote and if we didn't the price would increase. Lo and behold we accepted a better quote and attempted to have the deposit refunded only to be told that the deposit paid of £349 was actually an admin fee which is non refundable. Essentially we feel we have been misled and subject to aggressive selling techniques. We will be contacting Citizens Advice on Monday along with the FCA. I would suggest anyone else avoid.

I have decided not to go ahead with this company. I was told there would be no hard sell but salesman with me for 3 hours and asked a number of times what would persuade me to sign there and then.
Reasons I have rejected this company.
3 hour consultation.
2 dorma windows first quote £9000, reduced to just over £5000 eventually.
Feedback I read about scaffolding, their quote £1200, mine £600+. The review said they appealed this and the charge was cancelled but no scaffolding used.
I will choose a company that gives me best price and no where near £9000, deals with the quote quickly... 1hour max ....and does not try to make me sign there and then.
They do look to have a very good product and recycle the old windows deduct this from cost.

We had a new window fitted into our daughters room and was done with relative ease and without too much disturbance. Windows fitted and all complete within 2 and a half hours. Happy with the product and service received

We chose Penicuik to provide and fit our windows and doors for our entire house. We were initially told we would NEED scaffolding to carry out the work properly as we have dormer windows to which myself and my partner were quoted around another £1200 on top of the actual payment of the doors/windows. We would not have be able to pay this/ or provide our own scaffolding.On a phone call i explained we could not afford the scaffolding cost, then we were told that Penicuik would provide this at no extra cost to us to which we were very pleased. When our windows were fitted NO scaffolding was used at all. Id like to ask firstly, are our windows fitted correctly?? as no scaffolding was used after we were told several times how important it was to fit the windows correctly using scaffolding. Second to this, I feel IF we HAD the funds initially to pay the scaffolding, we would have paid this even though the job CAN be done without it? Would we have been conned out of £1200?? It almost seems this company would use scaffolding at the expense of the customer but when it comes down to the company paying for it they wont use it, so id like to know why scaffolding was NOT used, and due to this are the windows fitted correctly? And why we were asked to pay for it in the first place!! I also emailed about this to someone called Steven Cunningham at Penicuik who was very helpful at the start but since July when i mentioned this, NO response at all from him or enquiries @penicuik.com! So unprofessional.

Overall i am happy with our windows and doors, but not happy that i almost got conned out of money so watch out!!.

"Installation of front and back PVC doors."

Our front and back doors were fitted quickly and efficiently in adverse conditions- gale force winds and rain. A minimum amount of mess was created and all cleared away before the crew's departure. The doors are very smart and well fitting and we are pleased with them.

"Problem with refund"

In June we asked for a quote for a Conservatory. The Salesman was with us for 4 hours. We asked about Planning Permission and he was vague about this. We signed the Contract and the Surveyor then visited us to measure up.
He advised Planning Permission was required and that installation would be in November or December. We decided to cancel. It took over a month to receive a refund and this was under deduction of the Admin Fee.
We advised that we thought this should be refunded as the salesman had not advised us properly regarding the Planning Permission. I have tried to contact Gaius who deals with complaints without success.
I think it is disgraceful that Penicuik will not even discuss the matter with me. I intend to take the matter further unless I receive a refund of their Admin Fee.
