VISA's arbitrary assignment of "High Risk' is a total scam. My perfectly legitimate business has been charged $100 as a 'High Risk Acquiring Fee'. They have not provided any reason, other than my business category falls into this realm. 4816 Computer/Network Services. Sounds perfectly salacious. Elavon reps claim that they have no control over the charges. At the same time, they aren't doing anything to provide the information that one would need to complain. VISA hides behind their processing agents and there is no recourse. It is honestly time to stop accepting any kind of credit cards as payments. VISA had net profit of $32 BILLION in 2023 which makes these types of cash grabs entirely immoral. Shame on VISA. I'll be recommending that all my customers move to EFT or Interac eTransfer payments, which are FREE!!

"Refuses to close out account"

We tried to close out the account multiple times and they simply refuse. They always give excuses as to why it can't be closed. Don't have the right verification, someone needs to call back, it goes on and on. It is unbelievable. Bordering on criminal. The support will not email me to tell me my account is closed. It will be done in a few days. Why? Why not right now?

A horrible company. Stay away from them and NEVER EVER give them a void cheque. They will empty your bank account and you won't be able to get a hold of them for an explanation.

Closed my Elavon account almost 3 years ago after my business closed during COVID.
Dealing with executives for the secure return of payment-processing equipment was smooth, efficient and seamless. The person I was dealing with and who I found most helpful is Nick, one of the executives.
Throughout my dealing with Elavon for my business' payment-processing, I was pleased with their services and there were no unexplained overages added to my monthly bills.
I would certainly recommend Elavon for payment-processing.

Do not sign with Elavon. We ended up canceling before we even activated, due to poor dealings with set up service. Regardless, they have been taking our money monthly, even though we did not use their system one single time. We have now put a stop payment against them and I will be attaining counsel to recover the money that has been stolen.
