"Punishing me for their mistakes"
My lease was coming to an end. I called ALD in advance, as required, to arrange the end of lease collection. I was told that they can't collect the vehicle and the next slot available is weeks past the lease expiry date. Huge inconvenience for me but I was willing to work with them. I asked them whether I'd be charged for this and was told "We'll make it so that you won't have to pay". So I went ahead and paid for temporary car insurance, which is not cheap as you know and proceeded to sort out parking arrangements. Eventually, ALD did collect the car costing me hundreds of pounds in the process. Long and behold, ALD just slapped me with late car hire fees at over £20/day! Because they were unable to collect the car on time! This is going to cost me half a grand! At this stage it's worth taking them to a small claims court even just out of principal. What a disgusting company! EDIT: They sorted it out eventually.

"4 year review - extremely poor end of lease service"
I initially wrote a glowing review for ALD at the beginning of our 4 year lease, but now need to write one at the opposite end of the spectrum given our end of lease experience.
The end of lease has been chaotic, disorganised and extremely poor. The inspection was easy and no damage or any charges were applied, apart from excess mileage. During the inspection, I printed off the service record and also ensured all other documents were in place; going above and beyond to make sure it was as smooth as possible.
Unfortunately, issues started with ALD due to delays their end. I chased the company when I didn't hear anything following the inspection, who assured me all was in hand and that there was a backlog sorting vehicles. Despite this, > a month after giving the car back, I received a horrible email over the xmas break stating that there was no evidence of servicing on the vehicle and that I had to reply within 72 hours. Luckily, I had photos of the paperwork and also the electronic record, despite the ALD member of staff apparently not being able to find this on the BMW database.
I then received an email confirming the service history and I thought all was sorted, until another random email asking for payment for the month after I gave the car back came across. This has resulted in me yet again chasing ALD for answers, who have been extremely unorganised and unprofessional in the end of lease part. I've submitted a formal complaint and have decided to take my next lease out with a different organisation given this experience.

Throughout the 4 years of leasing via ALD we noticed that Customer service seemed to purposely ignore our emails or ask for random / irrelevant / repeated pieces of information just to stall.
The cherry on the cake was during the end of lease appraisal and getting charged £95 for a minor scratch inside the door where the seatbelt hit on one occasion.
Our contract was for 5k miles a year and so could've driven 20k miles. We only drove 11k miles and so the value of the car is significantly higher. When I called them to ask if they would consider writing off the £95 charge given the miles driven the gentleman on the phone told me "it was your choice not to drive the miles" i.e. it is his job to make sure every penny they can obtain from you they will.
Avoid these guys as there is no customer service, in fact watch the below copy/paste message saying how sorry they are for the bad experience and please could I get in touch with my number plate blablabla.
