"F***ing Terrible Paint"

Dries in a rough, patchy, blotchy and inconsistent texture. Has ruined our walls, will need skimming or sanding and stating again. Avoid this stuff like the plauge. The rest is going straight in the bin

Can’t add anything positive to all the other reviews. Think I’d get better coverage with milk. Wish I’d read the reviews. Oh well lesson Learned.

"Sadly not a great experience "

With a customer who chose Valspar for Children’s bedrooms had colours mixed by B&Q
One room more than a few little lumps but liveable with
However I got stuck with the 2.5 litres from Hell
Wall had been sealed with zinsser bin123
Had two coats of Dulux Trade Matt Brilliant white as a base and left almost 48 hours to dry
Read the rules no thinning necessary onto a cutting in brush and seemed quite THICK
Roller time brand new clean tray as both scuttles in use
Elsewhere
Dry roller also new de fluffed medium pile no bits hanging about
Onto wall waist height to top going up not bad but patchy ?
On the way down and about a third into upstroke
Starts to pull off the first roller full
Became very aware this is not good considering how much perfect prep we had done before and knew it was dry
Four rolls in started to see large bits on wall appearing regularly
The job was booked out for 2.5 hours
It got worse
Much worse
Slowed pace to a crawl just trying to get paint to successfully cover wasn’t easy
At three hours it looked a bloody mess and the lumps from halfway down the tin got bigger and bigger
Is this a base coat issue and storage in store pre colour adding for customer ?
Customer came home expecting room finished
I asked her to connect with store who I have just been advised have replaced the 2.5 litre can
So who’s gonna pay my wasted half day
Have heard issues from other decorators
But the client is always right
Until they’re wrong
Cannot give more than one star
And who do I invoice for my half day
Best regards

"They can not colour match and ready mixed paint is clumpy"

They can not colour match!

1. Samples you purchase of colour cards are not accurate . So good luck deciding on a colour B&q staff confirmed this after spending £30 on samples, that they can not create the same colours in small pots. Why bother giving samples then?
2. Your samples colour that you paid £4 for can also, not be colour matched.
3. Staff in B&q can not use the machines properly as they are not trained . And apparently can not use a hex code to scale up or down dependent on volume.
4. One staff member attempted to mix my paint but shaking the tin by hand
5. White paint from shelf (pre mixed) was dry with tonnes of clumps. (£50 a tin)

6. Despite showing videos of the clumpy paint (tin in video) valspar are refusing to refund as I lost the receipt in my decorating struggle. The tin is no longer with me as I emptied it into a larger bucket to mix my own damed colour, as valspar recommended because valspar kept getting it wrong ! However the bucket is clearly in the video and it’s clearly their tin.

They just out rightly refuse to refund for “auditing reasons”. I understand needing a receipt, however they have proof I was using their products and I have the bank statements showing I purchased hundreds from B&q. They could easily rectify this .

please avoid this brand , the colours are not accurate the premixed paint on the shelves is faulty

"Really bad"

I was recommended this by staff at B & Q . Told them it wad difficult for me to decorate as I have a spinal Tumour . I asked which was the absolute best I should use. They recommended this . It's terrible. Done 3 coats now and still looks bad .

"Awful! Do not buy!"

I wish we read the reviews before we purchased Valspar.
We've purchased a bright burgundy, which in the tin looks hot pink but is meant to dry darker, which it has. However we are 3 coats in, and it's so inconsistent, so patchy, the paint is such a poor quality, I'm not impressed.
Lets hope coat number 4 will be our final coat.
Such a waste of time and money

"Overpriced rubbish. "

The quality of this emulsion is shocking! It is of a standard one would expect from the cheapest available. It's ability to cover is extremely poor, the finish is patchy even after several coats. In its particular price bracket it is by far the worst paint that I have ever used. After using what emulsion I had, I finished the job off properly with good old Dulux. Don't waste your money buying this rubbish!
