Great for the planet, great for the driver, a caring and friendly team... What more could you want! I'm thoroughly impressed with Co-Wheels. The set-up process was a breeze, and my first drive was totally smooth. The car was a pleasure to drive too. Do sign up!

"My first (and I'm sure last) experience…"

My first (and I'm sure last) experience with Co-wheels has been a nightmare. I booked a car since I needed to go to the hospital to do an MRI scan I was waiting for months, but it was impossible to release the charging cable from the car, this I believe was due to a problem with the docking station that it was only operating the left socket while the car was connected to the right one.
I first tried to open a chat with them but it was not available, then I tried to call them but there was no agent available. I tried then to contact the assistance telephone number I found inside the car, but the person that answered me told me that I had to wait between 60 and 90 minutes to get assistance, but my scan was in 45 minutes. Luckily the hospital was only 20 minutes away, hence I had only one option, Uber. To go and come back to the hospital cost me around 30£ plus of course the cost of renting I had to pay.
I left this message as feedback to Co-wheels and I received this answer:
"Thank you for your email regarding a recent booking.
I am very sorry to hear you were unable to get the charging cable out of the charging port. Can you confirm if you tried to use the charging card from inside the vehicle to release this from the charging port? Can you also advise if you contacted the number which was on the charging port?
I can confirm due to you not being able to use the vehicle, I have credited your account with the £13.75 in Driving Credit.
Thank you in advance for your reply.

I found this answer unacceptable, hence I contacted Co-wheels again via chat. In short in this chat, I asked them to be refunded for the cost I had to pay for Uber which, I believe, is the minimum they had to do on this occasion. I was answered that it was my mistake because I had to call another number located at the back of the smart card to get assistance and that they will not provide any refunds for the alternative arrangements I had to organize.

To conclude a resume of my experience. I booked a car to do a very important task 20 minutes away. I booked a car for almost one hour in advance to be sure I will not miss my appointment. I arrived where the car was parked on time and I spent the first 10 minutes trying to release the charging cable from the car. I realized this was not possible, hence I tried to contact Co-wheels customer assistance. The chat was closed, the telephone number was saying no agents are available. Then I tried to call the telephone number I found into the car, the 24 hours assistance. I spoke with a lady that asked me the details of the car I booked, she has passed my call to another person that told me, yes we can help you, but we need 60/90 minutes to arrive at you. At this point, my important appointment was due in half an hour, therefore I had no other option than using Uber.
The answer from Co-wheels was that it was my fault because I had to call another number, their 24 hours assistance, reported in the back of the smart card which will give me the option to use another of their car. But this of course was not a solution for me because even if I would have proceeded in that way, I doubt I would be present at my appointment on time.
Total cost for me was around 14 pounds for the booking, for which bear in mind I was not refunded, they have just credited to me the amount to use again their bad services which I will never use again. On top of this around 30£ for Uber, my only solution available.

If you rent cars by hours, as is the case of Co-wheels, you must be reliable and ready to fix problems at pace. If for some reasons you are not able to do that, you must be responsible for the bad service provided. None of these options is the case of Co-wheels.

"Too good to be true?"

I've used these guys half a dozen times, and it hasn't been seamless. But every time I've got in touch they have sorted my issues out swiftly and to my complete satisfaction. Excellent customer service every time.

Two hires in a year and it's paid for.

"This bunch do NOT comunicate with…"

This bunch do NOT comunicate with customers properly! The car that I got used to using in Bethesda was "re-located" to a site 30 miles away making it USELESS to me!! It turns out that it was only in my village for a year but there was NOTHING about this on my online account or emails!!!

We've been members of Co-wheels for several years and have always felt the service to be excellent, both in terms of the condition of the cars and also the flexibility of the booking system. It has really been helpful to us, as we adapted to owning one car and then using Co-wheels vehicles as a second, if and when needed.
