"A big thank you to Coventry Building…"

A big thank you to Coventry Building Society.

They have provided me with an excellent, friendly service for the last seven years.

In 2018 we took out a mortgage with Coventry, via a broker, when moving home. This was a five year fixed deal. After this ended, I contacted Coventry directly and negotiated a new fixed ten year rate with no overpayment penalties.

We have been lucky enough to make two large capital overpayments into the mortgage account and have recently settled the mortgage by paying the small amount outstanding.

In all of the above, Coventry Building Society have provided excellent advice, suitable products and have been very friendly and efficient. They should be the benchmark on how to treat customers correctly.

I will be staying a customer for many years in the future now as I still have a savings account with them.

Again, a big thank you...

"So Slooooowwww!"

Slow, ponderous dinosaurs. Two weeks to open a new savings account for a long-standing existing customer. Really? Was considering moving current account to Coop now that Coventry have acquired them but not on this performance!

"Have had good service in the past but…"

Have had good service in the past but recently I wonder what era this large Building Society is living in. The other day I received 10(!!!!!!) separate letters each with one sheet of paper in all on the same day. This was information that other financial institutions post on my account. What a waste of resources. I contacted them to ask why they did not put this information online on my account and then send an email to say that information was posted in my account. The reply was they cannot do that as there are things that cannot be sent by email I didn't as for the documents to be sent by email, just that they were posted on my account and an email sent telling me documents were there, as they do for secure messages!!!!

For a large Building Society systems are archaic. You cannot withdraw on the same day, even the smallest of Building Societies enable this but not Coventry!!!

App is OK but it is not really worth it as you cannot run it on more than one device. You have to have phone or tablet but you cannot use both as it takes it bat and ball home and has a dizzy fit which means a phone call to get it sorted.

I will be back to the Coventry when these things are sorted. It is a pity because staff are very good, they just have to work with archaic systems living in the past

"Excellent in-person service backed up by efficient systems."

Opened a one-year bond in a branch (Nottingham). Negligible wait, clear but not formulaic explanation of the product; ID confirmed electronically; staff member friendly (but not ‘over-friendly!). Subsequent follow-up by post for on-line and telephone passwords has been commendably prompt. Impressed!

"Very much a mixture"

Very much a mixture. Opening a joint account was painfully last century and security was cocked up with no help from CBS. However have to say the guy from Complaints was first rate and sorted things. So Curate's Egg at present. Rather strangely, looking at reviews, am wondering with 30% being one star, how average is 4.4 out of five!

I messed up - having 2 limited accounts. Bobby rang
me and explained the situation in a lovely, friendly way.
I cannot fault this young lady and she is a great asset to the Coventry team.

Customer service was above and beyond what I expected. Nothing was too much to ask and Aadil offered me plenty of his time in assisting me with my new account setup and transfer.

"Had a savings account for years with…"

Had a savings account for years with Coventry. Needed to close one of my accounts to exchange contracts on a house. I tried to do it online, but there is an error and it said to call. I called and they told me I couldn't do it on the phone, as I needed a telephone code which I've never used as have an online account and do everything online. They refused to do the transfer over the phone even though it was to my nominated account and for a house purchase, which resulted in me missing exchange of contracts. Now closing all of my accounts here and do not recommend.

"Not sure "

Not sure how I feel about it, signed up for an online savings account, they asked for no ID, very quick process, then emailed me my account number and sort code in a confirmation email. Al, seemed very quick and not the most secure.

Edit. Also found paying in a bit scary as I had to do a bank transfer and I get very nervous about transfers. It's all ok but just not sure.
